[Solved] Adding labor and overhead to manufactured items??
I am able to set up a BOM and run a Work Order successfully. The BOM only includes Purchased materials. I am using Weighted Average Costing.

After running the WO, the Cost and Quantity On Hand are properly reported for the Inventory Item. If I click on Maintain Standard Cost, I see fields to input Standard Labor and Standard Overhead on a per-Unit basis. If I put anything in either of those fields and hit Update, ERP gives two error messages:

Database Error : CRITICAL ERROR! NOTE DOWN THIS ERROR AND SEEK ASSISTANCE: The GL credit for the stock cost adjustment posting could not be inserted because
Cannot add or update a child row: a foreign key constraint fails (`sierracoffee`.`gltrans`, CONSTRAINT `gltrans_ibfk_1` FOREIGN KEY (`account`) REFERENCES `chartmaster` (`accountcode`))

Database SQL Failure : The following SQL to insert the GLTrans record was used
INSERT INTO gltrans (type, typeno, trandate, periodno, account, narrative, amount) VALUES ('35', '26', '2013-07-23', '1', '0', 'FRC16 cost was 49.847 changed to 79.847 x Quantity on hand of 100', '-3000')

Please tell me how to add labor and overhead to the WO. I have set up a Work Center and set the Overhead Per Hour but I have no idea how to tell ERP how many hrs. to charge towards the WO.

Other than this lack of understanding on my part, I am finding WebERP to be a great tool.

Thanks,

Ray

RE: Adding labor and overhead to manufactured items??
Hello Ray,
I think the error has occurred during the cost update because the general ledger code you have specified for the stock category that sierracoffee belongs to does not exist in the chart of accounts. If you identify this stock category and then go to Setup -> Inventory Categories Maintenance

http://www.weberp.org/weberp/StockCategories.php

in the demo. Then edit the category identified and choose a general ledger account that adjustments should be posted to - this should fix your problem.

Labour can be set up using a special inventory category which is defined as a labour type and then an item defined for this category for labour which can then be added to the bill of material. Overhead can only be handled in a similar way at the moment.

Thanks Phil, That exactly solved the problem. Thank you for making this wonderful solution possible!
