CustomerAllocations.php Cancelling Delete not working
Hi Folks

Could you confirm you could recreate this issue:

Receivables > Allocate Customer Payments or Credit Memos

if you click on "Delete" and opt to cancel in the confirmation dialog, it still deletes the transaction.

Thanks

I am a bit confused here. I don't see any option to delete a transaction here, and I would be concerned if there was. Is this perhaps a customised script?

My bad, you are absolutely right on both counts :-)

What would be the best approach to cancel the entry of a customer payment after it was processed if the user realizes a mistake on the amount for example?

You cannot amend or delete a transaction once it has been entered. This is by design rather than by accident. As an accountant I have always believed that the integrity of the audit trail of transactions is of paramount importance.

To remove a payment you must enter a negative payment with identical details, and then allocate the two transactions against each other. I realise this seems long winded to non-accountants but it does mean that anybody looking in the future can see exactly what happened. In my opinion, anything else leaves the organisation vulnerable to fraud.

I know that Quickbooks does have the ability to amend or delete transactions, but I think they are principally aiming at one or two person businesses aiming to produce a set of books to pass to an accountant, rather than a full featured accounting application such as webERP.

That said, there are some Z_* scripts that do delete transactions, but they are not well maintained, and I for one don't support them.

Thanks
Tim
