Is it possible (and if so, how) to modify a BOM for a single work order? I'd like to edit the work order and delete the standard BOM item and add the substitute part without changing the actual BOM. Sometimes we will substitute a component for one production run because the component called for isn't available (usually paper of a larger size used when correct size isn't available). I know this can be done in other ERP systems. How about here? Thanks.
You don't need to use the components in the BOM to make a works order -you simply issue the parts you do use to the works order. There is no requirement to modify the BOM.

The problem as I see it is that you want to substitute a part, so not have the BOM issue the original part of which there are no stock.
Instead of issuing Part A which are part of your BOM, you issue PartA.1. Up to now I clone a BOM to a new temp stock, manufacture and then move the stock to the original stock item.
Thanks for the input. A concern I have is not seeing accurate allocations of a component. I don't know that I've seen allocations or planned issues in Weberp but my concern is that (if allocations are shown) I will see allocations on the part I am out of and not the part I plan to use. This would then lead to thinking I have more of that substitute component available when some of it is already spoken for.
In my previous post, what I was referring to as allocations is "Quantity Demand" in Weberp.
