RE: Companies using webERP.
The biggest problem I have had transitioning people from qb is persuading users of the importance of adopting the discipline of webERP because QB allows users to get away with poor accounting practices which makes thinks easier in the short term but harder in the long term

100% agreed on that my friend. QB does a lot for the money and is just fine for many experienced accountants. Unfortunately for those without any accounting experience it can lead to some very bad practices.

QB is a tool and like any tool it can be used improperly...

Thanks

Jeff,

For now only I am using webERP and while doing so I am creating a process manual so when others start using it they will have a quick-reference guide available.

While the webERP manual is extensive and well done (thank you all) it can be overwhelming to a new user, especially if he or she is only using a small subset of webERP features.

In my case my fellow owners have good accounting experience and are familiar with GAAP at high level so I foresee no real issues. However... If the only thing a person has used is QB and he or she has little accounting experience I think the transition could be difficult. Qb allows one to do things that should never be done in a multi-user and/or enterprise environment.

I have a bit of a thing about QB. I could tell you so many horror stories of the mess I have seen some organisations get into using it - they have to pay me to sort it out but it still offends my professional sensibilities Smile

RE: Companies using webERP.
Tim and Paul,
Thank you for your feedback. Our current system uses an MS Access database that is periodically linked to QB. The Access DB handles inventory, work orders, etc. I am fairly confident about translating these functions for our users e.g.: "this is how you created a Sales Order in the old system, this is how you create a Sales Order in webERP" I am less confident about translating the QB functions to webERP, because I don't routinely use QB. Paul, I would appreciate any parts of your process manual you could share especially those relating to invoicing, bill paying and account reconciliation.
Thanks!
Jeff

Jeff,

My Process Manual is an an easy-to-use outline format and it provides step-by-step actions to get tasks done in webERP.

I don't mind sharing it and perhaps we can somehow work it into the main documentation if all approve.

I will share it in here as I continue to make progress...
