Well, checked the settings and saw that PHP was not installed. Installed it using "yum install php" amd rebooted the VPS, pointed my browser to: "http://ipnumber/webERP/install/index.php" and things started good. Was redirected to
http://ipnumber/webERP/install/index.php?sessions_checked=true
and I saw the webERP logo, but Step 1 just gives the following error message and things seem to stop there:

Please check the following requirements are met before continuing...
PHP Version > 5.1.0 Fatal error: Call to undefined function mb_substr() in /var/www/html/webERP/install/index.php on line 111
