Purchase order costing problem
Hi,

What would be the best way to handle the following situation:

in a case where shipment costing needs to be done on a purchase order, that contains
some items that attract DUTY and others that don't attract DUTY e.g solar energy equipment

the problem is that the cost price of items that do not attract DUTY gets artificially inflated
by the DUTY amount if all items are in one shipment.

Also if the DUTY free items are excluded from the shipment, the other shipment costs for the order will not be applied to the cost of the DUTY free items

is it OK to setup two different shipments for the same purchase order ?

1. for the DUTY paid items
2. for the DUTY free items

Thanks in Advance

RE: Purchase order costing problem
Yes a bit tricky that - and making two shipments will not be easy as the charges for each will need to be apportioned... but that is where you are at I think. i.e. you will have one freight bill that will need to be split between the two shipments and cartage, port service charges etc.
