multiple alternate stock code to ring 1 stock item

Sounds a bit like vehicle parts ... where the same item by different vendors/OEMs can be used.
I think a preferable idea would be to use a new table with 2 columns

stockid - > FOREIGN_KEY to stockmaster.stockid
alias

We would need to make some mods to the searches by item code to bring up the correct item.
We could add a section to the setup of the item in the stocks.php script to allow entry of aliases - and check that the aliases entered don't already exist as stockmaster.stockid or existing aliases for other items.

Yes - Exson, This is exactly what that feature is used for. To search for parts during order entry tied to a particular customer. We could even add a field for customer part number on that search screen. And in addition any paperwork from the system also prints the customer's part number and their description (Acknowledgement, Invoice, labels etc)
