Sharing of Code
Being fairly new to open source for business based software (ERP) I am wondering how people handle sharing code that may or may not be suitable for the main package and next version. Maybe I have some cool modification or report that fits my business or a small subset of businesses that others might be interested in however won't make the main package. Do people on these forums share their code like that? In the forums? Elsewhere?
Just curious what others are doing. Didn't quit know which forum was best for this type of dicussion

RE: Sharing of Code
Well if there is something that you wish to contribute if you send to submissions@weberp.org I will check it out and see if it fits with

http://www.weberp.org/wiki/ProjectGoals

and try to make it fit with:

http://www.weberp.org/CodingConventions.html

to bring into the trunk - this makes any upgrades for you sweet and easy :-)

Hi:

I'm a small contributor to webERP as well, and when I develop something that can be useful, before commiting or submitting it, I found interesting to post some info about it in the forum or at the developers mailing list.

I prefer to do it BEFORE the development, as I can profit from all the ideas, contributions and POV of other developers, so at the end of the day you will have a full team of highly skilled webERP developers giving you tips, ideas or how to. Then you will see if it is a "general script" or "private script", and use it accordingly.

Also, chances are, someone has (or is developing) a similar script and you can team up.

It also leads to more general scripts that can be used in the main trunk, and it also will do your life easier when you have to update to a new release. (less custom scripts --> less work --> less local bugs).

Well, my 2 cents.
Regards,
Pak Ricard
