[Solved] Upgrade 4.10 to 4.11?
Hi,

I'm afraid I might ask a question that might have been answered already somewhere, but unfortunately I was unable to find it...

I've seen that a new version 4.11 (congratulations!) is out there. I was running 4.10 so far.

What's the best way to do the upgrade?

Thanks!

Ah - thought you may already be on 4.11.1 from your previous comment ...
You just copy the scripts over your existing scripts (noting that any modifications you did need to be reworked - or ideally coded in a generic way and submitted to me for inclusion in the codebase).
The database changes are applied automatically on login.

RE: Upgrade 4.10 to 4.11?
Well, you are right, my previous comment referred to a brand new 4.11.1 installation for a customer (since I like webERP so much, I even recommend it to my customers Smile )

The question regarding the upgrade was related to my own "old" 4.10 installation. Thanks for clarifying, I will do as you suggested.

I wish I could contribute to the codebase, but unfortunately, other than the odd minor change (like including a dot in the regular expressions), I have not much advanced in this topic. So, I'm still a mere "consumer" - but quite a happy one Smile

Thanks a lot!

I am sure it won't be long before you dive in and become a great contributor... there really isn't much to it - just a little learning on the front end and you are away into a whole new world of productivity :-)

RE: [Solved] Upgrade 4.10 to 4.11?
If somebody stumbles across this post:

I tried to copy all files from 4.11 over into the existing 4.10 folder via SSH, but the cp (copy) command in Linux is by default interactive, so it would ask for every single file if you are sure that you want to overwrite it.

In order to make sure it won't ask for all these confirmations, you should not use "cp" (which is an alias to cp -i, hence interactive), but provide the full path to the cp command. On CentOS 6, I used this:

/bin/cp -rf * /home/justcore/public_html/webERP/

In "plain English", this is the command to copy all files from the current folder into the existing folder that contains the current installation, overwriting any existing file in the target folder.

After copying is done (took only like 5 secs), just open webERP as you always do. A screen will inform you that an upgrade process will be performed, which only takes another 2 secs.
