Hi:

I am using https://www.dropmysite.com/ since 2 years now and works OK for me. They backup the filesystem and the database, and can keep up to 30 versions if I rememebr correctly. Setup and forget, except when need to restore something.

I'm not commercially related to DropMySite, just a happy customer
Regards,
Pak Ricard

There are a number of options:
a. If you have a remote access to the database, you can do a cronjob/scheduled task to dump the database from the remote to your local. cue: mysqldump

b. make a master-slave db replication setup having your local as the slave.

c. monitor and exploit the audittrail table. All updates are tracked by this table and can be used to extract changes.
