Whole units only flag
I would like to see a feature (either based on "Each" UM or a new flag on UnitsofMeasure table) that specifies something must be in whole units and when expected Qty/Cost is calculated on W/O's and BOM's uses this flag to round up to next whole increment. Here is an example.

We sell plastic by the pound and we can buy it in bulk however we put it in Boxes to sell. Depending on the product the Box may hold between 1000 and 1700 Lbs.
So if we get 10,000 Lb's of Plastic and wish to put it into boxes of 1500 LBs then the BOM and W/O will call for .000667 Boxes per 1 LB. This means to Box out 10,000 LBs of Plastic the BOM and W/O Expects 6.67 Boxes. Actually though we will use 7 boxes. 6 boxes will have 1500 LBs in them and the last box will be a partial with 1000 LBs. I don't want to create a variance (however small it is). For paperwork and reports I set the Boxes to show 0 decimals places. This fixed my displays however I am not sure 100% all the places I would need to make the change in the code to affect the financial side. I can start to develop the changes if somebody that knows the code well can give me some feedback on where to start and also why they think this might NOT be a good idea or impossible to do given the current code structure (w/out big rewrites)

Ideas? Thoughts? Anybody else encounter similar situations?

RE: Whole units only flag
If you define the item with zero decimal places then it only allows whole items.

It still calculates Costs expected in the W/O module in terms of the actual units with decimals.
My RM Item costs $20. I put .000667 Qty/Per. My FG has a Qty of 40,000. I expect 27 of my RM. MY W/O Screens show 27 expected (Because of 0 decimals in Item Master) and issued. I expected a Cost of 27*$20 or $540. W/O Costing shows expected cost of 533.60. This is 40,000 * .000667 * $20. SO I get a variance. Minor yes. But The costing portion doesn't use the 'rounded' value in calculations. All 3 RM have this issue. If this minor problem is fixed we don't need a new flag.

Hi, Andrew,

Have you ever check the Pan Size parameters?

Best regards!

Thank you for your suggestion. When I checked this feature It does NOT affect the Qty Required in W/O Creation.
