BoM Dummy Item Not Truly Labor/Service - VortecCPI - 12-17-2017 I have looked around and I see we can do this using Items with Category type "L" and MBFlag = "D" but... Here is the scenario... We are making product from a combination of chemicals and such (recipe of ingredients = BoM). One of the ingredients is water and it will not be tracked as an inventory item for obvious reasons. It is always available and we get a bill from the utility company so no need. Also no need to incorporate that cost into GOGS today but perhaps in the future... We need to have Water as a BoM line item so the correct quantity will be shown for creating/mixing the final product. Is the use of Category type "L" and MBFlag = "D" the only (and proper way) to accomplish this? If so first thought is new Non-Inventory Dummy Item: [attachment=632] I ask because the "Service/Labor" Type could be confusing to users. Any ideas or thoughts are greatly appreciated! RE: BoM Dummy Item Not Truly Labor/Service - VortecCPI - 12-17-2017 And by the way... MRP piece is very impressive so far... RE: BoM Dummy Item Not Truly Labor/Service - VortecCPI - 12-17-2017 Perhaps we need a Non-Inventory Item that is similar to a Service/Labor Item or perhaps "Service/Labor" labels could be renamed to "Service/Labor/Non-Inv"? I apologize if my questions are silly or have obvious answers. I am just a webERP novice around here... RE: BoM Dummy Item Not Truly Labor/Service - phil - 12-18-2017 I guess labour type Service item would work. I don't think you can have a dummy item on a BOM otherwise. It seems you have quickly built up a good and detailed knowledge of webERP! I have dug in deep but I have a very long way to go. This is such a strange case, as is our initial business model, so I am still not too sure what to do. While Service/Labor seems like it will work I was just concerned about the nomenclature. I guess changing the description to "Service/Labor/Non-Inv" should do the trick for us. As long as the books are right I am okay with it. |
